Listen Parov Stelar - Matilda

Lyrics

Time (Tori Amos)

The smart money's on Harlow, and the moon is in the street,
And the shadow boys are breaking all the laws.
You're east of East St. Louis, and the wind is making speeches,
And the rain sounds like a round of applause.
And Napoleon is weeping in a carnival saloon,
His invisible fiance's in the mirror.
The band is going home- it's raining hammers, it's raining nails.
It's true- there's nothing left for him down here.

And it's time, time, time. And it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time that you love.
And it's time, time... time.

Well, they all pretend they're orphans, and their memory's like a train-
You can see it getting smaller as it pulls away.
The things you can't rememeber tell the things you can't forget,
That history puts a saint in every dream.
Well, she said she'd stick around until the bandages came off,
But, these Mama boys just don't know when to quit.
Matilda asks the sailors, 'Are those dreams or are those prayers,
So close your eyes, son, this won't hurt a bit.'

And it's time, time, time. And it's time, time, time.
And it's time, time, time that you love.
And it's time, time... time.

Well, things are pretty lousy for a calendar girl,
The boys just dive right off the cars and splash into the street.
And when they're on a roll, she pulls a razor from her boots.
And a thousand pigeons fall around her feet.
So put a candle in the window, and a kiss upon his lips,
As the dish outside the window fills with rain.
An just like a stranger with the weeds in your heart,
And pay the fiddler off 'til I come back again.

And it's time, time, time. And it's time, time, time.
And it's time, time, time that you love.
And it's time, time... time.
And it's time, time, time. And it's time, time, time.
And it's time, time, time that you love.
And it's time, time... time.

Matilda, Matilda (Harry Belafonte)

Hey! Matilda, Matilda, Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Once again now!
Matilda, Matilda, Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Five hundred dollars, friends, I lost:
Woman even sell me cat and horse!
Heya! Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Everybody!
(Matilda,) Sing out the chorus,
(Matilda,) Sing a little louder,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Once again now!
(Matilda,) Going 'round the corner,
(Matilda,) Sing out the chorus,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Well, the money was to buy me house an' lan'
Then she got a serious plan,
A-hey, ah!
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Everybody!
(Matilda,
Matilda,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
Once again now!
(Matilda,) Going 'round the corner,
(Matilda,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
Well, the money was just inside me bed,
Stuck up in a pillow beneath me head.
Don't you know,
Matilda, she found me money and...
Everybody...
(Matilda,
Matilda,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
Once again now!
(Matilda,) Hooma locka chimba,
(Matilda,) Bring me little water,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Women over forty?
(Matilda,
Matilda,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
Everybody!
(Matilda,) Goin' round the corner,
(Matilda,) Bring me little water,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Well, me friends, never to love again,
All me money gone in vain!
Uh, heya...
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.
Everybody!
(Matilda,
Matilda,) Oom, ba-locka-chimba!
(Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
Sing a little softer!
(Matilda,
Matilda,
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela.)
EVERYBODY!
(Matilda,
Matilda,) Sing out the chorus!
Matilda, she take me money and run Venezuela!

Happy Song (Three Dog Night)

Sidewalk Sunday seem right on Monday
That's the way it's always been
Chasing after a bit of laughter
That's hanging in the wind
Ooh, I'm in love with a lady
Got so many good things in my life

Frustrations every single day
Can roll off one by one
Don't let them waste your life away
You can laugh and sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing along

Ooh, sure makes me lazy
Can't help feeling I'm such
A lucky guy lucky guy, guy
Happy just to be alive and living
Sharing the sun with a shady lady

Sing along, don't be long keep in time
With us sing along Yeah
Dee, dee, dee
You can laugh and sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing along
Ooh, I'm in love with a lady,
Got so many good things in my life
Ooh, I'm in love with a lady,
Got so many good things in my life
Ooh, I'm in love with a lady,
Got so many good things in my life
Ooh, I'm in love with a lady,
Got so many good things in my life

My Aunt Matilda stopped to say
She's feeling fine
The doctor said her heart is fine
She has time to spill the wine save a dime
Keep in time with us learn the rhyme.
Yeah
You can laugh and sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing along
Dee, dee, dee
You can laugh and sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song
Sing along don't be long
Keep in time with us sing the song

I'm Sorry (King Missile)

No, I never was in Vietnam
I never once dove into an empty
swimming pool
I never let the carpet walk right out
from under me
I never painted a house or a tree
I never did become an exotic dancer, or a
customer service representative
I never took the pulse of a dying duck,
or gave mouth to mouth
resuscitation to a horse fly
In a way, I suppose you could say
my experience is quite limited
For example, I never locked Oliver
Cromwell in a broom closet while
singing Waltzing Matilda
I never sawed television in half,
although I once saw Wendy O.
Williams saw a guitar
I never played a decent game of jacks
I never played poker with a toothless one
eyed pirate who kept
picking his teeth with a bowie knife to
distract me, while his parrot looked
over my shoulder and told him what
cards I had by using an elaborate code
involving vomiting, chirping,
and sea chanteys
I never bought a lamp-wait; I did buy a
lamp once
But I never bought a lantern, or a
lambskin prophylactic
I never bought a loin or a
Loinel Ritchie album
I never bought anthing beginning with
the letter "L" except lollipops, light
bulbs and lettuce and the lamp
I never laid down for a nap and found the
Everly Brothers in bed with me
I never let a cyborg take out the garbage

I'm sorry
I stole the radio
I did it
I sawed the legs off the periodic table
I re-elected the president
I did it, it was my fault
I farted in the church
I'm sorry

I did many many bad things and I am so

sorry!

I'm Housin (EPMD)

[PMD]
Coolin on the scene like a horse in a stable
A brother got ill and tried to snatch a fat cable
I stepped back like it wasn't no thing
Punched him in the jaw with the fat gold ring
I had an ace in the hole when it came to that
(Yo P you was packin?) You know I'm strapped
Posse kept rollin it was hard to get with em
So I stepped back and unbuttoned my Lee denim
They kept coming just like I figured
So I stepped back, and started sprayin niggaz
[E Double]
What a way to go out, out like a sucker
But I'm on track, like a Long Island train
that can head your mission, suckers who be dissing
Always on my jock like a snake always hissing
Grabbing and tapping me like Luther Vandross
Take me to the bar for the drink and make a toast
Givin best wishes to the best MC
The E the D-O-U-B-L-E
Because I'm housin (3X)
[PMD]
Coolin at a party, no better yet disco
Head feelin mellow from a bottle of Cisco
Move...
To crush and fry a sucker MC like crisco
Every chance I get, I try to kill
That's one less sucker new jack, who tried to act ill
I keep the place jumpin til the party's through
Whether it's disco, hardcore, or rhythm and blues
Take off your coat, won't you stay a while
Check out the voice that is smooth and mild
It's like Wheel of Fortune, go on for big money
Come cold rock the party, and leave wit ya honey
[E Double]
Gimme the cue, check one two
Don't try to come off on me, because you doo-doo
Treatin me the E Doubl-E, like a stepchild
Well let me tell you homeboy you're livin foul
MC's, you know who you are
(On the bandwagon) Why P? (Cuz you a star)
This is the year that when the joker's are wild
When a fag can't ** it and try to bite the style
I get hip to the scheme, before it happens
If it gets wild, then I start cappin
But for now, since everything's calm
Relate to the matter as I drop the bomb
As I proceed to rock, the girls are clockin
Some brothers act hard but the rest are jockin
Because I'm housin (4X)
[PMD]
I come on strong, like a bodybuilder
Cast a spell upon a sucker, like witch Matilda
Deliver a rhyme like Federal Express
My intention's not to dis, but impress
For the ladies and gents, the money was spent
To see the E-P-Double-E-M-D (yes the main event)
In concert... not worried bout oos n boos (because we do work)
To make your body jerk
(To make your girl want to leave her man and start to flirt
With the P) Double-E MD Double E'n
I'm not skeezing, but pleasing
All party goers, also behind show-ers
Who like the not, fast slow flow of rhymes that form in my dome
Out the mouth, to the microphone
Because I'm housing (4X)
DJ La Boss, on the scratch
Lounge
(My homeboy Big Daddy Kane, BizMarkie)

Street Hassle (Simple Minds)

Waltzing Matilda, looked at her wallet
The **y one smiled in dismay
She pulled out four twenties
'Cause she liked round figures
Everybody stayed for a day
I think I'm on fire and you know I admire you
Buy it, why don't we slip away
Although I'm sure you're certain
It's a rarity me flirting
Sha la la la lay, come on

Sha la la la la, Sha la la la la, Sha la la la la
Come on and slip away, Sha la la

Cascading lowly he entered her slowly
And showed her where he coming from
And sha la la la la. Made love to her gently
Just like she had never come
And sha la la la la. Sha la la la
When the sun rose and she made to leave
And sha la la la la. Sha la la la you know
Neither one regretted a thing

Say sha la la la la, Sha la la la la, Sha la la la la
Come on and slip away
Say sha la la la la, Sha la la la la, Sha la la la la

We need your loving so badly
We need your loving so
Slip away, come on, slip away
Sha la la la la, Sha la la la la

Love has gone away
She took the ring from my finger
And there's nothing left to say
We need your loving so badly
We need your loving so
Come on, slip away

Matilda Mother (Pink Floyd)

There was a king who ruled the land.
His majesty was in command.
With silver eyes the scarlet eagle
Showers silver on the people.
Oh Mother, tell me more.

Why'd'ya have to leave me there
Hanging in my infant air
Waiting?
You only have to read the lines
They're scribbly black and everything shines.

Across the stream with wooden shoes
With bells to tell the king the news
A thousand misty riders climb up
Higher once upon a time.

Wandering and dreaming
The words have different meaning.
Yes they did.

For all the time spent in that room
The doll's house, darkness, old perfume
And fairy stories held me high on
Clouds of sunlight floating by.
Oh Mother, tell me more
Tell me more.
Aaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaah

TOM TRAUBERT'S BLUES(Waltzing Matilda) (Rod Stewart)

(Tom Waits)

Wasted and wounded
And it ain't what the moon did
I got what I paid for now
See you tomorrow
Hey Frank can I borrow
A couple of bucks from you
To go waltzing Matilda waltzing Matilda
You'll go waltzing Matilda with me

I'm an innocent victim
of a blinded alley
And I'm tired of all these soldiers here
No-one speaks English
And everything's broken
And my strength is soaking away
To go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go a waltzing Malitda with me

Now the dogs they are barking
and the taxi cab's parking
A lot they can do for me
I begged you to stab me
You tore my shirt open
And I'm down on my knees tonight

Old bushmills I staggered
You buried the dagger
Your silhouette window light
To go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go a waltzing Matilda with me

Now I've lost my St. Christopher
Now that I kissed her
And the one-arm bandit knows
And the maverick Chinaman
with the cold-blooded sigh
And the girls down by the striptease shows go
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go a waltzing Matilda with me

No I don't want your sympathy
Fugitives say
that the streets aren't for dreaming now
Manslaughter dragnet
and the ghost that sells memories
Want a piece of the action anyhow
Go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go waltzing Matilda with me

And you can ask any sailor
And the keys from the jailor
And the old men in wheelchairs know
That Matilda's the defendant
She killed about a hundred
And she follows wherever you may go
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go waltzing Matilda with me

And it's a battered old suitcase
in a hotel someplace
And a wound that would never heal
No prima donnas the perfume is on
and old shirt that is stained with blood and whiskey
And goodnight to the street-sweepers,
The night watchmen flame-keepers
And goodnight Matilda too
Goodnight Matilda too.

Watzing Matilda (Rolf Harris)

Spoken
( Waltzing Matilda is a song about an Australian Hobo I guess you'd call him. He wanders through the bush land of Australia and he takes all his meagre belongings wrapped up in an old blanket which is strung across his shoulders with an old piece of twine and this is called his swag.
Hence the name swagman. Now affectionately or otherwise he refers to his swag as Matilda, its like his only companion as he wanders through the bush tracks he finds himself talking to it as if its a real person. So the term Waltzing Matilda is nothing to do with dancing at all, it means in fact carrying this thing on your back through the long lonely stretches of the Australian bush.
Couple of other terms quickly, pay attention because I will be asking questions afterwards about this, couple of other terms.
A billabong is a pool of deep water, a billy is a little tin can they boil the tea in, a jumbuck is a sheep, err tucker bag is a bag for carrying tucker, food bag tucker is food sort of like a knapsack. What else the squatter is the big land owner, that's enough lets get on with the song.)

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a Coolibah tree
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?

Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

Then down came the squatter mounted on his thoroughbred
Down came the troopers one, two, three,
Where's that jolly jumbuck that you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
Where's that jolly jumbuck that you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

So up jumped the swagman and he sprang into that billabong
'You'll never take me alive' said he
(slower)And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a-waltzing matilda with me

(normal rate)Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me.

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?
